July 2, 2026 – Guided by the Beijing Agricultural Technology Extension Station, the 4th Special Seminar & On-site Forum on the Development of Plant Factories in Beijing (Cuihu Modern Agricultural Science and Technology Forum) was successfully hosted at the Cuihu Plant Factory of Beijing Cuihu Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. The event was organized by the Beijing Modern Greenhouse Industry Association, and co-undertaken by the Growers Branch of the Beijing Modern Greenhouse Industry Association, Beijing Cuihu Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., and Beijing Agricultural Machinery Research Institute Co., Ltd.

Over 40 industry experts and enterprise representatives attended the forum, including Li Zhi, President of the Beijing Modern Greenhouse Industry Association and Secretary of the Interim Party Branch of the Association Council; Lei Xihong, Senior Agronomist and Chief of the Facility Section at the Beijing Agricultural Technology Extension Station; Tian Yanan, Deputy Chief of the Facility Section; Zhou Zengchan, Professor-level Senior Engineer at Beijing Agricultural Machinery Research Institute Co., Ltd.; and Wang Lili, Director of Technology at Beijing Cuihu Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd.

The forum was presided over by Zhang Zhixia, Secretary-General of the Beijing Modern Greenhouse Industry Association. At the opening, Wang Lili, Director of Technology of Beijing Cuihu Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., delivered a speech on behalf of the co-organizers, followed by four keynote presentations on plant factory-related topics delivered by industry experts from leading enterprises.

Deputy Chief, Facility Section, Beijing Agricultural Technology Extension Station
This presentation systematically sorted out the current scale of development, layout of demonstration bases, and existing technical application levels of facility agriculture and plant factories across Beijing. Combining municipal policy documents such as the Implementation Plan for Vigorously Developing Smart Agriculture in Beijing (2025–2030), it provided a detailed interpretation of supporting policies for plant factories and smart greenhouses, including project subsidies, agricultural machinery and equipment incentives, research demonstration funding, and financial discount interest support. It analyzed development opportunities and existing bottlenecks in the industry, offering clear policy guidance for planting enterprises and investment entities on project application and factory construction planning.

General Manager, Future (Smart Agriculture) Beijing Technology Co., Ltd.
The presentation focused on core industry pain points: high capital input, excessive energy consumption, and low profitability. It broke down the complete commercialization path of plant factories across six dimensions: site selection, production capacity planning, crop variety selection, supply chain establishment, market channel layout, and cost control. Drawing on the company’s practical operation cases, it proposed sustainable development strategies including differentiated operation, high-value crop cultivation, government-enterprise demonstration cooperation, and energy-saving equipment renovation, helping small and medium-scale growers reduce operational risks.

Manager, Jiayan (Beijing) Environmental Technology Co., Ltd.
Environmental regulation accounts for the largest share of production costs in plant factories. This report compared energy consumption data for temperature and humidity control, CO₂ supplementation, LED lighting environments, and water circulation systems, identifying energy waste issues with traditional environmental control equipment. It shared low-carbon energy-saving technical solutions such as waste heat recovery, precise spectral light regulation, closed-loop water and fertilizer circulation, and intelligent time-phased regulation. The presentation quantified the return cycle of energy-saving renovation investments, providing technical references for factories to cut costs and boost efficiency.

Professor-level Senior Engineer, Beijing Agricultural Machinery Research Institute Co., Ltd.
The speech delivered an in-depth introduction to the Cuihu Digital Intelligent Plant Factory, showcasing R&D achievements of complete agricultural machinery tailored to Beijing’s local conditions, including vertical cultivation racks, automatic water and fertilizer integrated machines, IoT monitoring platforms, and harvesting & packaging assembly lines. It demonstrated the practical application of digital twins, AI crop growth recognition, and remote cloud management in large-scale plant factories, advancing the localization and standardization of plant factory equipment to lower procurement costs.

Following the keynote presentations, an open discussion session was held. Attending experts and enterprise representatives launched in-depth exchanges on hot topics including daily plant factory operation, technical iteration, policy implementation, and industrial promotion, drawing on their professional experience. Participants shared experience, exchanged ideas, and resolved technical and operational doubts, facilitating industry resource exchange and technology sharing amid a vibrant communication atmosphere.

To conclude the event, Li Zhi, President of the Beijing Modern Greenhouse Industry Association and Secretary of the Interim Party Branch of the Association Council, delivered a closing speech. President Li fully recognized the valuable outcomes of the forum. He pointed out that plant factories represent a core track for the transformation and upgrading of urban agriculture in Beijing, delivering multi-dimensional value including food supply security, technological innovation, eco-friendly production, and industrial demonstration. Noting the prevalent issue of isolated operation across the industry with fragmented technology, resources and markets, he stated that the Association will continue to act as a bridge connecting all industry stakeholders.

After the theoretical seminar, all participants proceeded to the core production zone of Cuihu Agriculture for an on-site inspection tour, visiting three functional areas: the packaging workshop, water and fertilizer workshop, and intelligent plant factory.
This on-site seminar broke down communication barriers spanning the full industrial chain of "policy – scientific research – equipment – cultivation". It clarified policy dividends for plant factory development in Beijing while addressing practical challenges in industrialization, energy conservation and digital transformation, delivering a wealth of actionable technical solutions and operational strategies.
Moving forward, Jiayan Environmental will keep focusing on the R&D of energy-saving environmental control technologies for facility agriculture, deepen its expertise in low-carbon renovation for plant factories, and actively participate in industry exchanges. The company will continue to deliver low-cost, high-efficiency environmental regulation solutions, leveraging green technology to fuel the long-term high-quality development of smart agriculture in Beijing.
